What to know about NotebookLM
The former NotebookLM address currently redirects to a page branded Gemini Notebook. This listing keeps its familiar name while treating it as a source-based research workflow, with current naming and access checked at the provider.
Who this guidance is for
Readers who can inspect the original documents behind a research result.
A practical test for NotebookLM
This is a suggested evaluation exercise, not a report of a completed test. Use it to gather your own evidence before choosing a tool.
Review attempted on 21 September 2026. The public page was blocked, unavailable or too limited to confirm current features. Treat this as evaluation guidance and verify access and terms directly; a blocked page alone does not establish that a service has closed.
Sample task
Upload two fictional project notes with different revision dates and contradictory deadlines. Ask which deadline is current and request the supporting passage.
What to inspect
Verify that the answer uses the later note, acknowledges the conflict and does not cite a passage that merely mentions the project.
How to decide
Choose if you can trace important conclusions to the supplied documents quickly; a summary is not a substitute for its source.
Official sources
Check NotebookLM's official product information for current status, features, limits and terms.
Evaluate it for your workflow
Try a representative task with non-sensitive sample inputs. Record errors, revision time and whether the output exports correctly. Compare the full workflow against your current method before committing to a plan. Use our evaluation worksheet to record the result.
