What to know about Connected Papers
Connected Papers provides visual exploration of relationships between academic papers. A graph is a discovery aid; nearby nodes do not necessarily mean one paper directly supports another.
Who this guidance is for
Readers who can inspect the original documents behind a research result.
A practical test for Connected Papers
This is a suggested evaluation exercise, not a report of a completed test. Use it to gather your own evidence before choosing a tool.
Review attempted on 21 September 2026. The public page was blocked, unavailable or too limited to confirm current features. Treat this as evaluation guidance and verify access and terms directly; a blocked page alone does not establish that a service has closed.
Sample task
Build a graph around a known paper and select three nearby works plus one older work. Read their abstracts and compare research questions.
What to inspect
Identify whether similarity comes from shared references, method or subject. Verify any claimed citation relationship directly.
How to decide
Choose it when visual exploration reveals useful reading paths without replacing source-level interpretation.
Official sources
Check Connected Papers's official product information for current status, features, limits and terms.
Evaluate it for your workflow
Try a representative task with non-sensitive sample inputs. Record errors, revision time and whether the output exports correctly. Compare the full workflow against your current method before committing to a plan. Use our evaluation worksheet to record the result.
